Sanjay Roy Chowdhury, Managing Director, Gray Matters

Formerly Associate Director with the Human Capital practice of Ernst & Young, Sanjay was heading the Eastern Region, the SAARC countries and Saudi Arabia. Over 21 years of experience in total with 16 years in High end consulting across the globe and 5 years in Internal HR function in 'The Arvind Mills Ltd.'. Graduate(B.Sc.) from Presidency College, Post Graduate(M.Sc.) from Calcutta University and MBA from XLRI, Sanjay has consulted for organizations in India, Bangladesh, Nepal, South East Asia and the Middle East across all domains of Human Resources. Sanjay had a syndicated career counseling column in "The Telegraph" newspaper for 12 long years called "HR Matters". He is also a member of CII – TQM / HRD sub-committee and a Winner of "National Competition for Young Managers" by AIMA - Year 2001

Shilpa Chakraborty, Director, Gray Matters

Shilpa Chakraborty is a Post Graduate in Business Finance from University of Calcutta. She is an alumnus of the National Institute of Personnel Management and Symbiosis – Pune with Specialization in Human Resource. Shilpa has over 19 years experience in core HR functions. She worked with Ernst & Young for over 7 years and consulted more than 30 clients in the industries like Manufacturing, Textiles, Retail, Engineering, Information technology and Government Sector. She worked with TIL for more than 9 years as Head of Human Resource - Associate Vice President – Knowledge Resource Management. In TIL she has driven large-scale organizational change management initiatives, and had been instrumental in setting up HR systems and processes across the organization in line with global best practices. She worked closely with Caterpillar global and was a core HR member of Caterpillar Far East Dealers Association (CFEDA). Shilpa has received awards on HR Practices, Leadership and as Woman Achiever from different bodies in India. Her papers have been published in journal of Bombay Management Associations.

Debkumar Mitra, CEO, Gray Matters

Formerly Director, Research and Development at Derek O'Brien & Associates, a Kolkata-based media infotainment company; Debkumar designed a mathematical tool 'The Knowledge Quotient', which measure's an individual’s knowledge base vis-à-vis knowledge base of his / her immediate environment. Previously worked with The Statesman and The Telegraph in the Editorial department Debkumar also authored a recreational mathematics column Brainstorming for 14 years in "The Telegraph". Debkumar is also a consultant editor with Penguin India since December 2006

Debkumar is a Gordon M. Fisher Fellow from the University of Toronto, Canada, in 'Science and Pseudoscience,' 'Bioethics,' and 'Impact of Digital Media on Culture,' . He has published 'Mindstretch' a book on mathematical puzzles and miscellany, The Mad, Mad world of Elections with Sudhir Dar, Penguin India Fact File, Business Traveller's Guide, States of India with Penguin India. Has exposure in India, Bangladesh, Dubai, USA, UK, Finland, and Canada

Mitesh Mehta, Managing Consultant, Gray Matters

A graduate in Hotel Management and an MBA from IBS Hyderabad, Mitesh has work experience spread over various sectors like 5 Star Hotels, Education Services, Knowledge Management and Human Resource Consulting. Having worked with brands like the JW Marriott, and the Oberoi Bangalore, Mitesh proves his versatility by working with clients in these esteemed organizations, to liaisoning with Students, Teachers, Principals and providing various Educational Services. As part of Gray Matters, he has designed, managed and delivered various HR Consulting Assignments in the area of Organization Design, HR Systems and Policies, Performance Management System, HR Audits and Surveys etc. He has conducted several workshops and successfully trained corporate professionals in the area of Business Etiquette, Dining Etiquette, Performance Management System, Job Descriptions etc. Mitesh has received recognition and won awards in the area of Customer Relationship Management and Outstanding Performance in his work

Rajarshi Nag, Managing Consultant, Gray Matters

Around 19 years of experience in the field of Human Resources, playing multiple roles and being moulded into the role of a HR Generalist, Rajarshi had a stint in various industries like Manufacturing, Logistics, Financial Services, IT Services and Consulting. Lately being associated with companies like eFORCE India and ICRA, he had been the Principal HR Officer before venturing into consulting and Training. He has been an active member for consulting assignments all across the country and abroad ( Various locations in the US and Bangladesh).

With a graduation in Bio-Chemistry and Master in HR from IISWBM, he has been trained in NLP and Sensitivity Training practices. A sportsman to the core, he loves playing games like Tennis, Cricket, Football and enjoys a long distance run or swimming.

Creativity, being the driving force for him, he excels and has won awards for various contributions in painting, modelling, theatre and writing.

Shravani Sarbadhikary, Managing Consultant, Gray Matters

Shravani Sarbadhikary, brings along, over sixteen years of HR and management consulting experience of working in India, Middle East, Eastern Europe in industries such as IT, ITES, audit, finance and educational domains. She was formerly the HR & Learning & Development leader in Ernst & Young, Qatar. She has been a Lecturer and L&D consultant of management studies in universities oversees.

Being in the field of learning and development in different business domains, has enriched her with the knowhow of training needs and to implement the learning outcomes into practice. She has successfully held Leadership program workshops for American Chamber of Commerce for professionals and expatriates outside India. She has travelled to many places in the world and this gives her the exposure to understand the behavioral aspects of different cultures and speaks many languages. She has a MBA in Human Resources from IISWBM, Kolkata.

Sudarshana Samanta, Senior Consultant, Gray Matters

Holding an MHRM degree (Masters in Human Resource Management) from IISWBM, and a Graduate degree in Commerce from Sivanath Sastri College, Sudarshana comes from a Recruitment Consulting background. She has served top clients with quality service in all management levels across various sectors for over 4 yrs. She is self-directed, target oriented, and her strength lies in her interpersonal and client interaction skills which add value to the HR consulting assignments she handles at Gray Matters.

Ananda Dutta, Consultant, Gray Matters

An MBA in HR from Eastern Institute of Management (EIM), Kolkata having experience in complete HR & OD consulting in the area of PMS ( Job descriptions, KRAs and KPIs fixation, balanced score card, 360 degree performance evaluations, Bell curve and normalizations, Increment- Promotion & rewards) , HR Policies & SOPs implementation , Grade designation restructuring , organization structuring. Takes active interest in participation and arranging of management seminars and was part of National Management Convention, National Competition for Management Students (NCMS-2010), National Competition for Young Managers’ 2009 organised by All India Management Association.

Rimona Banerjee, Consultant, Gray Matters

B.Sc(In Nutrition) from Calcutta University, Post Graduate Diploma in IRPM(Industrial Relations and Personnel Management) from Bharatiya Vidya Bhawan, Rimona has 9 years of experience in total with 6 years of experience in HR operations and office administration. Rimona has worked for various industries ranging from Services, Real Estate, FMCG, Banking etc in HR generalist profile including payroll management, recruitment, policy making, and job descriptions.


An MBA in HR and a graduate in Business Management from Institute of Engineering Management (IEM) Kolkata, Rumela Halder have work experiences in sectors like HR Operations, IT Recruitments & Management based Content Writing over the past years. As part of the Gray Matters team, Rumela applies her theoretical knowledge of various HR systems and processes and takes active part in the HR Consulting Assignments. She is a quick learner with good inter personal and client interaction skills.


Adhir Ghosh

Adhir Ghosh, an Executive Coach, Facilitator & Consultant (associated with Spl. Projects for Gray Matters) is an HR/OD professional with more than three decades of multi-functional and multi-business experience in India and abroad, Adhir partners with Gray Matters on various assignments. Earlier he was Director HR of M/s Galana Refineries & Terminal S. A., Madagascar. Major part of corporate career in Bharat Petroleum where he was identified and positioned for the specially created role of Internal Coach, to facilitate the 'behavioural' aspect of organizational transformation. He was associated with M/s Arthur D. Little, in organizational restructuring and HR/OD initiatives at BPCL. Adhir was trained by Dr. Peter Senge’s disciplines as an Organizational Effectiveness & Leadership Coach. He was mentored personally by Sir John Whitmore, U.K. (the originator of GROW Model) as an individual and team Effectiveness Enhancement Coach. He has coached the Global Managers of UNDP (who represented the member nations of UN) and several CEOs/Top Management staff in India & abroad. After doing a postgraduate program in management, he was associated with ISISD in facilitating behavioural process work. He is also a trained as an Assessor by Hays for Assessment / Development Centres. Asish Halder

An astute professional with over 30 years of rich and extensive experience in handling a wide gamut of functions viz Strategy Planning, HRM/HRD, Soft Skill Training, Quality initiatives, Safety initiatives, Campus planning, Cost optimisations, Event Management, Security measures, General Administration, Asish is a Post Graduate Diploma in PM&IR from XISS. Formerly General Manager with KDS Garments, Bangladesh, one of the largest Industrial Group of Bangladesh known for their RMG & Textile Division having over 4,000 workers and 350 executive staff. Prior to that Asish was the Area Manager – HR (East & South) for Jet Airways, India and Country Manager – Administration for PricewaterhouseCooper. Before that Asish worked as DGM – Operations & Support for R S Software (India) Limited and Otis Elevator as DGM – HR. Asish has also worked as the Assistant Secretary for the Damien Foundation, Belgium and WHO as Office Manager – Projects. Asish is a Certified Facilitator for Juran Quality Improvement having obtained his certificate from Juran Institute USA & QUIMPRO.


Shruti Kant Pal is the CEO of SuPact Consultancy Services and an Associate of Gray Matters on various assignments. He was formerly VP-HR for Airtel and HR Head for Eastern Region. He has over 31 years of experience with organizations like Williamson Magor (VP-HR), Nicco Corporation, Jenson & Nicholson. He completed his Graduation from Meerut University and Post Graduation from Allahabad University and MBA from XLRI. He has a wide variety of experience in the Human Resources domain, namely, Organization Structuring, Competency Mapping of positions within the organization, Performance Management Systems, Salary Benchmarking and fixation including payment of performance linked incentives, Recruitment across industries, functions and levels, Training on Leadership Skills and team building across levels in organizations, Developing HR Systems and Processes for clients He is a regular club-level tennis and golf player and member of 4 premium Sporting and Social clubs at Kolkata.

Responsible for Marketing Strategy, New Product launches, Advertising and Promotion, Merchandising, Pricing, Packaging, Rural and Urban initiatives. She has handled Distribution, tied up a JV for a new product line in lighting, and set up and ran the Eveready Academy of Sales Training. She was part of the start up team at Titan, as Regional Manager; and as Product Manager at Reckitt Benckiser and Assistant Manager with Citibank. Over 25 years experience, with 14 years in senior management in Marketing, and heading an SBU. Jayashree is PGDM from IIM Calcutta (Glaxo Gold Medal in Marketing); M.Sc. From Madras Christian College (First in University), Chennai (National Science Talent Scholar of NCERT) She is also a Guest lecturer at XLRI, MICA, IISWBM, IIMC, CMA, St.Xaviers’and Ad.Club Advertising Course.

Joy Bhattacharya, Advisor, Content & Research

Joy Bhattacharjya is a mathematics graduate and has a Master of Computer Application degree from Jadavpur University. The CEO of Indian Premier League team Kolkata Knight Riders, started his career with Patni Computers. Joy had been associated with various TV channels including ESPN and National Geographic Channel and has created award-winning software as a producer. Joy is also a well-known quizmaster and was the mind behind Super Selector and ESPN School Quiz. A keen basketball player, Joy has represented his varsity team. He has written a couple of books on behalf of ESPN regarding Quiz and also edited a book of lists on Amitabh Bachhan and also done quite a few Corporate events.
